Warranty
Plain terms, stated in full. If something we built fails because of how we built it, we fix it. The exclusions below are the ones that come up in practice, and we would rather they were on a public page than in small print at the bottom of an invoice.
What is covered
| Item | Period | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Fabrication and workmanship | 5 years | Welds, seams, joinery, structural fabrication, mounting hardware |
| LED illumination components | 7 years | Modules and power supplies, including labour to replace |
| Paint and applied finish | 5 years | Adhesion, cracking, peeling, and fade beyond normal weathering |
| Acrylic and polycarbonate faces | 5 years | Delamination, warping, yellowing beyond normal weathering |
| Installation | 5 years | Mounting, anchoring, sealing and the electrical connections we made |
| Vehicle graphics | 1 year | Adhesion failure, lifting and edge failure from installation |
Labour is included throughout. A covered failure does not generate a service call charge, a trip charge or an equipment charge, including where a lift or crane is needed to reach it.
Why vehicle graphics are one year
Not because the material is worse — the cast vinyl we use is rated for seven years outdoors. It is because a vehicle's service life is outside our control in ways a building's is not. Pressure washing at close range, automated brush washes, solvent spills, body repairs and repaints all damage vinyl, and none of them are distinguishable after the fact from an installation defect.
One year covers the window in which a genuine installation failure will show itself. Adhesion problems from surface preparation appear within a few months, not in year four. Beyond that we quote repairs at cost of materials plus labour.
What is not covered
- Vandalism, collision and storm damage. We will repair it, promptly and at a fair price, and we will help document it for an insurance claim. It is not a warranty item.
- Damage from unapproved alterations. If another contractor opens a cabinet, re-lamps it with different components, or re-anchors it, the warranty on the affected work ends there.
- Normal weathering. Exterior finishes change over years. Fade beyond what is normal for the exposure is covered; the ordinary softening of a colour over a decade is not.
- Electrical supply faults. Failures caused by a supply problem upstream of our connection — surges, incorrect voltage, faulty circuits — are not ours, though we will diagnose and tell you what we find.
- Substrate and structure we did not build. If a fascia, parapet or wall we mounted to fails, that is a building issue. Our anchoring into it is covered; the wall is not.
- Consumables in changeable signage. Printed inserts, changeable letters and messaging panels are consumable and priced accordingly.
Making a claim
Call the shop on (330) 555-0148 or email service at our domain with the site address and a description of the fault. A photograph helps and is not required. We will tell you within two working days whether we consider it a warranty item, and if it is not, what a repair would cost before we do anything.
For illuminated signage we aim to be on site within five working days for a total outage and within ten for a partial one. Outages affecting life-safety or egress signage are treated as same-day or next-day regardless of warranty status.
Signs we did not build
We service other manufacturers' signage. There is no warranty position to take on the original fabrication, but our repair work carries the same terms above, for the parts we replaced and the labour we performed.
